Mrs. Jones’ Science Class Makes a Trip to the Garnet Mine

On October 2nd, the 6th & 7th grade science class traveled to Alder, Montana to tour the Red Rock Garnet Mine.  The highlight of their trip was finding the garnets, and being able to bring them home. The mine had planned on doing a blast, but due to the weather, they were unable to do it. The students were really looking forward to that portion of the trip.

A fun fact about the mine is that 2003 Leadore Graduate Sheila  Jones Trischman, works as a geologist in the topography department where they do the blasting.
